Empty Quarter Desert

It is a magical desert located south east of Saudi Arabia, on the borders between Saudi, Emirates and Oman. It is floating on one of the largest oil reservoirs in the world.

The area is called Shaybah, which means the old white-haired lady. Lots of stories were told about the origin of this name, one of which is that this area has so many dry spots that are rich in salts that appear as white areas.
